Another shot from the 2010 Draggins Rod and Custom Car Show.
No punch backs. As seen at the Draggins Rod and Custom Car Show.
As is our custom around here for the last five years, we all took in the Draggins Rod and Custom Car Show. It’s every Easter Weekend and is a big fundraiser for Camp Easterseal. We had a pretty good time wandering around and looking at the classic cars but even though there was a Lamborghini Countach (Wendy’s personal favorite) and a restored Saskatchewan Transportation Company bus, I wasn’t that impressed overall. There just wasn’t that many cars that took my breath away as there was in previous years.
We got there around 10:30 a.m. (door open at 10:00 a.m.) and Prairieland Park was packed already which is good for Camp Easterseal but not so good for those of us who don’t like the feeling of being in a big mob. The venue was expanded this year with even more space for cars. If the show keeps growing, I am not sure where else it could be held.
I didn’t take nearly as many photos this time, partly because the cars weren’t as good but also because Wendy grabbed the wrong camera and with the lighting combined with high gloss paint on many of the cars, focusing was a pain in the neck. Post processing was able to save some of them but I apologize for the quality. We’ll see what we can do next year.
I love Legends racing. It’s getting more popular in Western Canada and two of the bigger races of the season are in Saskatoon. Mark has always said that they are cars made for him and when he saw this small model, he pointed out that him and Oliver could go racing together.
This is one of the few cars that really impressed me. I am not sure what it is about this orange but I think it looks spectacular.
This 1974 Lamborghini Countach looked pretty good but it has a Chevrolet engine in it and a Porche transmission. I assume that parts for an old Lamborghini are hard to come by.
This is the last RCMP Ford Mustang in existence. I remember how cool it was when these came out.
This is a good looking Volkswagen Bug
The rest of the photos can be found here.
Around here it is a four day long weekend which is nice. Mark is off school for a week and I have had two additional shifts this week already so I am looking forward to some time off.
As is tradition about the house, we are taking in the Draggins Rod and Custom Car Show at Prairieland Park (previous year’s photos: 2008 | 2007 | 2006 | 2005) and then heading up to the cabin to do some painting and tearing out three interior walls and to hang some blinds. The weather up at the lake is supposed to be nice and with the new heater, we should be okay over the night. The new wall-less cabin will be a lot more open and bright. The old walls weren’t even close to being a sound barrier so it won’t make any difference for Mark and Oliver sleeping. Mark likes the idea of it being more open and in a couple of years we will have a loft built into the cabin and Mark can sleep upstairs.
We’ll be back for Easter Sunday in the city and then I hope to come in on holiday Monday to work through some paperwork and enjoy some uninterrupted time at my desk while the rest of the Centre is closed.
I hope you have a great holiday weekend.
