I really like the Ford Focus. I came close to buying one because it just handles really well. The one caveat for me was the back seat. As soon as I put my teenage kids in the car they voted no because the leg room is not great and the space feels closed in. We still wanted a small car so we ended up with a used VW rabbit, which allows for a more roomy small car feel.

I keep a close eye on colleges but not that close on college sports. But one thing I see is an increasing competition for college admissions. More and more kids with 4.0 averages are being turned away because athletes with 2.5 (or less) averages are needed to fill the stadium with giving alumni. Plus, girls are, on average, better qualified, so colleges discriminate against them. Their moms and dads are oriented away from athletics, also.

Colleges are somewhat underutilized - classes could be scheduled on nights and Saturdays, increasing capacity 60 percent. And I would venture buildings are not fully utilized, only full from 10 to noon, and 1 to 3. So, colleges could make up lost revenue with increased enrollment.

But the real issue is liability.

I see basketball filling the void, but also baseball expanding later, with southern teams playing well into November. Wrestling, Hockey and Soccer would also climb in popularity.

Also, a form of soccer, modified to fit on a football field, may be created, to utilize the existing football fields, of which there are hundreds.

Very interesting and thoughtful stuff you have here.

It makes the case that it's entirely overwhelming to keep your contact list secure, because even if you do, just one of your friends/contacts has to make a slip to spoil your effort.

Ideally I'd have a VPN, my own cloud, and email server. Who has that kind of time? Privacy is dead.

[...] I was talking to a businessman who has been tied to his phone since AGT came out with the Aurora (such old technology, Google doesn’t even know about it) and he said to me the other day that he was willing to ditch his smart phone and go back to a flip phone (or a feature phone so he could text his kids). His company email server was down and he couldn’t do “anything” and was frustrated in the same way we all get frustrated. He said with a regular cell phone, when it went down, all it did was affect his phone calls. Now when his smartphone isn’t working, it affects everything. He was actually in the process of heading to Midtown Mall and purchase a cheap phone so as he put it, at “least I can call someone”. In some ways as I looked at a Nokia C1 by Fido today I wondered if this may be what I really want, an update to the Nokia 1100 which is still the world’s most popular phone.
I had a discussion with someone from the PMO once. I said, "Where does the PMO get off thinking that it matters in the fabric of our Democracy?" (a loaded question, I know, but we'd had a few *beverages* by this point).

He said to me, "You should assume that anything said or done by the PMO is done by the Prime Minister himself."

So there you have it. If the PMO did it, Harper essentially did it. Don't complain to the PMO, complain to your MP and to the PM.

I am from vancouver and i wanted to say judging by what you had to say about $16 an hour you are a country pumpkin.Anyone with an half brain wouldn't go along with having their wages cut in half.It is time for the workers to take to the streets. It is on the streets that these problems will be settled.
The people in Indiana will have to do what ever is necessary to get rid of the Anti Worker law there.Workers in Indiana are no better than slaves at the present time.Slavery came to an end in 1865.The Right To Work Law is a start to slavery comming back again. This Law should be fought against by all progressive people.Caterpillar knew where to get slave labour.

Say, what's the best way to get books into Canada? We have Media Mail here in the US, where we can send books for cheap. Like 16 pounds for ten bucks.

Alternatively, do you have anyone living near Detroit, Seattle or Buffalo who can drive over the border with them to someone who can get them to Saskatoon?

I worked with and without a pimp. I have worked at both indoor and outdoor locations. Indoors is NOT safer - EVER! Only 1% chose this so-called work and are sex addicts. I, along with the many women/children whom I prostituted with can contest that the majority of violence we experienced happened behind closed doors - through legal establishments. I was drugged and raped by a driver. The first cocaine i ever bought was through escort drivers... my first violent john was in a bawdy house while a few other of my friends were present and had to drag the lunatic off me. When i did eventually get a pimp (because nearly everyone i knew had a pimp, free loader, user or abuser for man) he preferred i sold my body at indoor locations so he could keep a better eye on me and drive me to my calls. I was less likely to report violence the longer i stated in the trade i believed violence was a part of the job and we all become desensitized to the dangers it entails. Its not the laws that make women unsafe, its the men that abuse them. Reporting to the police put me at a greater risk of violence. An inspiring woman once said... "For something to be a real choice, shouldn't we have a second option of equal value or greater?" (By Beverley McAlease). I couldnt agree more, in fact i dont feel its ever a real choice - not even for the very small few who believe it is. Its like there's a job description laying down all the really dirty "D's" of what one should expect. This is a business exchange based on lies and threats of violence. 97% report they want out but are afraid and/or don't know how to get out.

I personally don't agree with seeking an exemption.

That being said, I do think its worth having a conversation about the potential impacts on Saskatoon. Unfortunately, the considered opinion/questions by Councillor Clark have not been responded to in a likewise manner by those who don't agree with him.

Also, this vote will be tied on Feb 6th, unless someone switches their vote and the mayor voting against it will kill the motion. At least one councillor will not be in attendence.

This was very helpful! Thank you, I had unplugged it for five minutes, but didn't think to do it to the adapter. Thank you very much for posting this solution!

Oof, this just makes me furious. Thanks for providing this, I generally don't read the Hansard but maybe I should (my sanity says I probably shouldn't.)

At least now I know when the SP starts blaming the NDP's policies, it means that they haven't thought of anything better. Between this and Harper's comments on pensions/OAS, you guys must be having a lot of fun at work. If we can't afford to increase the living allowance in "boom times", what is going to happen during a slump? Not to mention paying for people to live in hotels instead of raising the allowance! I've been in affordable housing, and I can tell you that there is plenty of incentive to move out if or when you have a bit more money. This "lazy welfare bum" stereotype of people on assistance is harmful and disrespectful to the majority of people on assistance. OK, I should probably stop ranting about stuff you already know, since it's only increasing my blood pressure.

Simply stated worked perfectly. Just wanted to hang out with the kids tonight and play some games and of course the wii wouldn't turn on. So simply googled it this came up and just followed directions and easy enough were off playing, thank you.

I would send them an invoice for the photography they forgot to ask permission for or pay for? I bet next time they will ask for permission before they pirate your photographs.

[...] It’s happened before and I was assured it would never happen again. Well it did. I was initially quite angry but more than anything it shows that copyright and the Creative Commons are not well understood by city employees. My photos can be used if I am given credit (I was told I was in the City of Saskatoon’s PowerPoint) but in the print/PDF version I was not. Also, it is not for commercial use. I was talking with city councillor today who wondered if because the city used it, if it was a bit of confusion. I replied, “You call yourselves a corporation” but I see his point and I think that may be the biggest problem. During my discussion on Twitter about it, I was told that some of my photos have been used in other publications, again without permission, attribution and by the corporation.
I'm very interested in this 'integrated' approach to tackling urban social challenges. I think several of the ideas you mention here would be applicable in downtown Barrie. Please keep writing about these 'best practices' as you discover them. I'd love to see similar ideas pioneered over here.

I'm really happy for you that you landed this job. It sounds perfect for you! And even with the water issues, you don't sound stressed like you did at your former job. I really hope having this job will have as positive impact on your health as it will on your community!

I think people forget that the purpose of Social Services is an emergency aid to get you through till you can succeed on your own and why on earth would they make it comfortable to remain there...what would be the motivation to not be on anymore??? The plain and simple facts of life are life is hard, nobody is owed a living and even if we don't like it we all have to take part in making our own lives what we want them to be
