Excellent post by the National Post about where the $90 million that Stephen Harper says were spent on housing in Attawapiskat went. The reality is that it was on $5.8 million for housing.

This stuff drives me nuts. The post about where the money went to is great, but I get driven mad by idiots making up spurious facts and then real life people having to devote hours to debunking them.
The basic principle of rhetoric and debating is that if you make an assertion, you have to back it up. The burden of proof rests on you. This almost NEVER happens in politics, which is what makes this post so outstanding. In contemporary politics, people just say shit all the time and the rest of us run around with facts.
So let’s change the terms of engagement for politicos and journalists and pundits. Make an observation based on facts otherwise we all declare you to be a liar. Because that is actually what you are.
