This is modified post that I posted at the Salvation Army weblog.
The last couple of years the Salvation Army Community Services has been collecting and distributing school supplies for families who need some help in getting their children ready for school. This year The StarPhoenix helped our cause with a great article about what we are trying to do. Ever since the article came out, the people of Saskatoon have responded and loads and loads of school supplies have been coming in. They have overflowed our board room, taken over part of our hallway, and have moved on to our reception area. It’s a great problem to have.
I did a quick check of my son’s school supply list from Caswell School. Everything that is on that list (except for gym shoes), we have a lot of, including backpacks and messenger bags to carry them in.
We need your help now in giving the supplies away. We have already helped out countless families but if you or anyone you know of needs school supplies, please have them come to 339 Avenue C South anytime from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (we are closed for lunch between 11:30 and 12:00 p.m.), Monday – Friday and we will do our best to make sure they get what they need. If you have any questions, feel free to call 306.242.6833.
If you know of anyone that needs help this year with back to school, let them know. The Salvation Army wants to give it all away.
