Brady Quinn

B_1 The Denver Broncos acquire Brady Quinn.

The Broncos acquired the former first-round draft pick from the Cleveland Browns for fullback Peyton Hillis, a 2011 sixth-round draft pick and a conditional pick in 2012.

Not a good sign if you are Kyle Orton and want a new contract and as for Chris Simms, well it’s been nice to know you.  It will be interesting to see if Josh McDaniels opens up the starting QB job in training camp.  While Kyle Orton did a serviceable job in 2009, he didn’t exactly cause teams to fear his arm and rarely threw the ball downfield.  While Quinn was horrible in Cleveland, he didn’t have a lot to work with, didn’t have the support of the head coach but is familiar with the New England offense from his days at Notre Dame.  It should be interesting.

  1. … maybe we could use a Notre Dame photo? growing up across the lake from Cleveland the Browns visual is just too hard to take. did you notice the corporate “we” … nice to have BQ in Bronco colours after “we” tracked with him through ND.

  2. Hmmm… kind of mixed feelings about this one. I know he is young and has potential, but, especially after last years slide down from mediocrity, Bronco fans still crave a dynamic quarterback, and every quarterback will still sit in Elway’s shadow.

    1. The Broncos could have Peyton Manning and still be yearning for Elway… I wonder if that contributed to Brian Griese’s downfall in Denver, he wasn’t John Elway so he wasn’t acceptable.

I do worry a bit about Denver’s offensive scheme in that I haven’t seen it yet but Quinn could be a good fit there. Orton is what he is although he threw down the field more in Chicago so it will be interesting see what he does this season.
