Help Wanted

The Salvation Army Community Services of Saskatoon is hiring again for the Men’s Residential Hostel and our Half-Way House.  It’s five shifts.  Three weekdays from 4-12 p.m. and two weekend shifts from 8-4.  Your days off are consistent, benefits are good, your supervisor may or may not be tolerable, and there is no forced overtime.

Your job is to assist in the running of our residential front desk, our half-way house (don’t worry, they are pre-screened offenders), and you even get to help out with our Emergency After Hours desk when needed.

I need someone who can make good decisions, is slow to judge, even slower to anger but can raise their voice when needed.  I also need someone with good Microsoft Word skills and is comfortable using Windows.  Probably the most important thing is the ability to show discretion.

You can fax me your resume at 665.0708 or e-mail me at jordon.cooper@salvationarmysaskatoon.org

The position is open immediately.

If you want to know what your job will be like here, check out this documentary about the Toronto Gateway Centre, another shelter run by the Salvation Army.

Of course the main differences are that we are a little smaller (but not much), have a more diverse program offering (both good and bad), and the winter’s colder in Saskatoon.  Of those differences, it is the cold winters that I am working on changing the most.
