The City of Saskatoon is hosting this event at
The City of Saskatoon is excited to offer residents an opportunity to hear Jan Gehl, renowned Danish architect and urban design consultant, speak at two distinct presentations entitled “Healthy, Liveable, Sustainable Cities” on August 31 and September 1 at the Frank & Ellen Remai Art Centre in the Persephone Theatre. Tickets are priced at $7.00 for students or $12.00 for adults per presentation, and are available online at www.picatic.com. Both presentations will begin at 7:30 p.m. The event has ‘rush’ seating and doors will open at 6:45 p.m.
Jan Gehl’s vision is to create better cities that improve quality of life for citizens. He aspires to create urban environments which are lively, healthy, diverse, sustainable and safe. He advocates for the provision of facilities for walking, cycling and public transportation methods. Jan’s presentation will show examples of his work from his home town of Copenhagen as well as other major urban centers around the world.
If you are thinking of going, let me know. I think I am going to go on Tuesday night.

I’ve got my tickets for the Tuesday talk. Really looking forward to what he has to say.
On a similar note, you should check out the writings of Gordon Price (www.pricetags.ca). He is a former long-time Vancouver city councillor who focuses on Urban Planning as well. I saw him speak here in Saskatoon this past March – great stuff. More than that, he also presents attainable ideas.
