  • Chadiha: Players don’t trust NFL’s car service :: The league has a program in place that allows players to a call a car service in any major city that will pick them up if they’ve been drinking. It’s a great idea, except for the fact that some players don’t trust it. They believe too many phone calls to that service will lead to more hassles from franchises when contract negotiations begin.
  • Bernie Kosar files for bankruptcy :: Kosar owes almost $1.5 million in “unsecured debt” to the Cleveland Browns, who he played for from 1985 to 1993. Kosar also owes his ex-wife Babette $3 million and $725,000 (from a personal loan) to the owner of the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League. He owes a bank more than $9 million for bad real estate deals.
  • When winning is losing :: What happened to class and sportsmanship?  O’Reilly has a great example later in the article that I loved.  Remember what transpired just over a year ago in women’s softball? A Western Oregon player hit a home run but, in her jubilation, ripped her knee touching first. Nobody knew what to do. Because of this stupid rule, her teammates and coaches couldn’t help her round the bases. And that’s when two kids on the other team — Central Washington — decided to carry her around the bases. Imagine that: sportsmanship.
