- For the hardest hit U.S. cities, they may need to be partly bulldozed to survive :: Most are former industrial cities in the "rust belt" of America’s Mid-West and North East. They include Detroit, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Memphis. In Detroit, shattered by the woes of the US car industry, there are already plans to split it into a collection of small urban centres separated from each other by countryside.
- When Theology on Tap stops theology on tap :: I am with Adam on this one.
- How having player skip college to go pro impoverishes professional sports :: The lack of college experience also means that you probably have less of a chance to have a conversation with a Finals player about English lit or political science. For instance, if you’re a reporter, maybe you don’t ask for thoughts from modern players on the Gaza Strip or Abdul Nasser, or whether they read Chuck Pahlaniuk’s new book. These guys lead sheltered lives that really aren’t that interesting. Back in the seventies, you could go out to dinner with three of the Knicks—let’s say, Phil Jackson, Bill Bradley, and Walt Frazier—and actually have a fascinating night. Which three guys would you pick on the Magic or Lakers? I guess Fisher would be interesting, and I always heard Odom was surprisingly thoughtful. I can’t come up with a third. So I’d say that the effects are more in the “didn’t really have any experiences outside being a basketball player” sense. via
- Junior’s turnaround could be a long one :: The only way McGrew can be successful is to find a common language with Earnhardt. Never mind all the funky terms Earnhardt uses that McGrew has likely never heard before. They’ve first got to get the basics down: When Earnhardt says he’s too tight or too loose, McGrew has to figure out just what that means. Every driver is different – tight to Junior might not be all that tight to Jeff or Jimmie – and learning where the driver is most comfortable is an immediate challenge.
- Losing with grace :: It’s something that the Detroit Red Wings could learn after complaining that Sidney Crosby took too long to shake their hands after the Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup.
- Kyle Orton is named the starting QB of the Denver Broncos :: “There’s a lot of difficult aspects about what we ask our quarterback to do in our offense and Kyle has really grasped some of them more quickly than Chris did,” McDaniels said in explaining the move after the second day of a three-day minicamp at the team’s Dove Valley headquarters.

I think theology on Tap is my copyright, after all, my last name is Tap and I was a pastor and therefore involved in theology. I wrote this to see if anyone is awake!
I am in the same boat. I have been thinking of suing Nike for putting my last name on skates and sticks for years but it isn’t going anywhere
