Well I finally uploaded all of my photos from Chicago online. Each one of the photos takes you to the photoset on Flickr where they now live.
This was taken inside of Bloomingdale’s in Chicago. A second after I took this photo I was approached by a pleasant staff who told me that photos weren’t allowed inside it which is a shame. The building is a former Shriner’s Theatre and is home to hundreds of gorgeous stained glass windows and a great looking dome.
Right after I took this photo, my co-worker laid down on the floor beside the bed downstairs and was taking photos of the dome. While I was getting lectured on taking photos, I could the click of her camera going off down below me.
The Persian Rug in this photo was $75,000.00 which is quite a bit more than Wendy and I paid for our house.
On our last day in Chicago, we went to the Sears Tower (soon to be Willis Tower) and went to the 99th floor Skydeck. It was far cheaper than the C.N. Tower or the Calgary Tower and the view was spectacular. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the windows were dirty. Of course on the other hand, we did meet up with President Barack Obama. On television he is an eloquent speaker but at the Tower, he didn’t say a word.
The Bean (a.k.a. The Cloud Gate) was perhaps my favorite part of our trip. As you can see, it is a big bean looking thing that reflects the surroundings beautifully. Cloud Gate is a public sculpture by British artist Anish Kapoor. It is the centerpiece of the AT&T Plaza in Millennium Park within the Loop community area of Chicago, Illinois, and is located on top of Park Grill and adjacent to the Chase Promenade. The sculpture was constructed between 2004 and 2006 and was temporarily unveiled in the summer of 2004. Nicknamed “The Bean” because of its legume-like shape, its exterior consists of 168 highly polished stainless steel plates. It is 33 feet by 66 feet by 42 feet (10 m × 20 m × 13 m), and weighs 110 short tons (99.8 t; 98.2 long tons). It also lends itself to distorted self-portraits.
Yeah, it appears that I have a bit of a fascination with Navy Pier. If you didn’t check out the photos before, you can do it now.
Here are just some of the photos I shot while wandering around downtown Chicago during the day and late at night. Again, the full photoset can be found over at Flickr.
