@Tim

I think we have adequate evidence that both big government and big business have not had "much" interest in issues in Africa or the like... unless doing it temporarily will benefit them financially or security wise.

Barak Obama has a plan to end poverty? What a joke he created it in Chicago. The only thing obama wants is to take everything from anyone who has more than a 100k to make them dependant on the goavernment also. The only people who consistently do things for the any world problem are the christian conservatives. Fact when they have the maoney they give it to all kinds of org's and sponsor more mission trps to help others then any other group, organization or individual. I am so sick of hearing about obamas plans, he is doing just the opposite by turning this country into a socialist country no one will have anything left to give. Sad. Doon't for a minute believe obama is a chtristian. No true believer in Christ would have attended nor associated themselves nor said the hateful things about whites and his own family that he did. If you want to solve world hunger then encourage business ownership, give peole back their money that they can give to the charities.

Theses pathetic little minds that say capitalism is bad only say that to eliminate the competition for them. All the democrates own huge businesses or have interests in them but they write laws and regs to stifle productivity of other bussinesses but exclude themselves from their own laws.

HYPOCRITES

Government has never solved anything they only stand in the way of productivity.

When the government takes over private industry mediocrity sets in, productivity goes down and one cares about quality. Sad but true every thing they touch is ruined.

Jordon,

Here's the trouble with Dion's carbon tax. It made the government a "carbon junky" without any real identifiable targets, it essentially raised money by taxing polluters. No plan to reduce pollution. In fact, worse if anyone did, the Government would have had to keep finding a reason to tax them in order to keep getting the money they would need to fund the programs they instituted, so either raise taxes or... you guessed it tax polluters even if they are reducing their output. It is not a good plan, It does not accomplish what it sets out to do. You might as well mention the Kyoto accord, which is also misunderstood and foolish. It is not an environmental accord, but a fiscal agreement that penalizes everyone, but Europe for standards that exist only because the Russian economy collapsed.

But I need my macbook to make cool movies to show people how much people are suffering in Africa.

But I need my own house so that all my children can have their own room.

But I have to take care of my own kids or else they might not go to college.

But I need my car to get to work, the bus system is just too unpredictable.

But I need my TV with cable to make sure I am staying updated on world issues.

But I need all my books to keep myself studied up on all the problems in the world and all my bible commentaries to make sure I understand what the text is really saying.

But I need more than seven pairs of clothes because I don't want to LOOK poor.
