Hey Jordon,

I'm one of the editors of Leadership Journal that contributes regularly to Out of Ur. Obviously, we'd love for you to still engage the blog, but your concerns are legitimate and shared by others. Since Ur launched three years ago, we've learned a lot about the good, the bad, and the ugly of the blogosphere. Sometimes the ugly has been the result of having a lax filter on the comments from a desire to give people latitude in their self-expression. Other times the ugly has been from poor editorial choices regarding what topics to cover. But like I said, we've learned a lot.

Later this month, as part of Ur's third anniversary, we'll be unrolling Out of Ur 2.0. The updates will be more than cosmetic. We've pooled a team of regular contributors that are respected church leaders and bloggers to help elevate the conversation. We'll also be expanding our e-newsletter with original content in more of a magazine format (meaning thoughtful articles rather than blog rants). Finally, we'll be posting new editorial guidelines for comments. Editors will be much more discriminating about which comments we post, and which we "junk." Our value of edification will now unashamedly trump the value of participation.

Thanks again for your feedback.

here here!

i've ceased to read out of ur as of about a month ago because it seemed only to be good for precisely that.. to stir up frustration and reaction over hot button issues rather than add anything beneficial to a beautiful picture of the reign of god in this world.
