Night at the Movies
We are showing some movies at the shelter on Saturday nights for the guys who call this place home.
We are starting out with the Star Wars series and then hitting Star Trek (Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!) pretty hard. After that I have some ideas on what films I want to show (The Mission, Batman Begins) but I was wondering if you had any suggestions. I am actually thinking of doing some documentaries like Ken Burn's The War this summer and maybe even Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs, and Steel to change the pace a bit. (documentaries are quite popular in our television lounge). I think there is some sort of law that a couple of John Wayne movies need to be shown as well.
If you have any suggestions on some movies that would be appropriate for guys in the shelter, let me know in the comments. My only caveat is no nudity or gratuitous violence.

Serenity - the Fire Fly Movie
Old Yeller, Guns of Navarone, Kelly's Heroes, The Matrix, Wind, The Dirty Dozen, that Star Trek parody with Tim Allen.
I don't know if you are "allowed" to do this, since your "audience" is not "related", but I don't think you charge "admission".
You could tape history channel shows - like Modern Marvels. Or superbowl games?
We get the NFL Network so we have some old Superbowl games regularly. I bought the America's Team series so that is being showed as well this fall.
Wal-Mart has a bunch of cheap history DVD's but I think I am going to get the Mythbuster's DVDs as well.
I asked my film writers for you Jordon. I'll see what they come up with..

BTW, there are some cool DVD's filled with collections of short films of all kinds...always thought it would be cool to do real film nights with an animation or live short before the main event.
Would they enjoy Alfred Hitchcock, his films are not violent (in todays sense anyway) and they are pretty fun to watch.
I totally forgot about Alfred Hitchcock, that may be fun.
