Mr. Roberts said frankly that he didn’t know whether the U.S. Congress would have voted for war had not the extent of Mr. Hussein’s threat been exaggerated, though he raised the possibility of the United States having waged a Kosovo-style humanitarian intervention in Iraq.
Mr. Rockefeller said that congress would have been unlikely to have approved the war without the persuasive case Mr. Bush made. ?It was a convincing case, it just happened to be a wrong case,? he said.
And outside of George Tenant stepping down, life goes on as usual and no one is really responsible.
