March 11

I decided to blog my day today.

5:00 a.m. :: Woke up, got a glass of grapefruit juice, went back to bed, dog was sleeping in my spot. Shoved dog over and went back to sleep.

8:00 a.m. :: Mark wandered in whispering, “Dad, are you sleeping?”. Wendy came in with my birthday gifts.

9:03 a.m. :: Wendy called Dennis Camplin to make coffee plans in Moose Jaw. Around the same time I realized that if Starbucks was open, I could be drinking their coffee by now. 9 more days.

9:30 a.m. :: Read e-mail and deleted several e-mail promises to “enhance” certain parts of my life. Was blown away by how cheesy the Casino Moose Jaw website was.

10:00 a.m. :: Turned back on breakfast long enough for dog to lick my sandwich. Gave sandwhich to dog. Elway 2 – Jordon 0 but it is early.

10:20 a.m. :: Planned to by trying out the digital camera by now but am waiting on Wendy and Mark to come along.

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. :: Fought with my computer to get my Lyra MP3 drivers installed. In the end the MP3 had frozen. A simple reset button and all was well. Wasted an hour.

11:59 a.m. :: Dog gave me a pitiful look and I let him come along to Moose Jaw for the ride. Elway 3 – Jordon 0

12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. (projected) :: Driving to Moose Jaw to have coffee with Dennis. Anticipate getting a pop at Chamberlain and filling up with gas.

12:00 p.m. (actual) :: ordered an Arby burger for lunch. It was burnt. When will I ever learn.

1:30 p.m. :: Drove through Craik, Saskatchewan. They have a sign that reads, “Best town by a dam site”.

1:40 p.m. :: Drove through Davidson and couldn’t help but wonder how Disneyland can make money when Davidson has a big coffee cup as an attraction.

1:45 p.m. :: Purchased a Mountain Dew Code Red in Chamberlain fullfilling earlier blog prophesy.

2:25 p.m. :: Arrived at the campus of Moose Jaw Free Methodist Church. Met with Dennis.

3:20 p.m. :: Checked out Casino Moose Jaw. Looks great from the outside. Inside is 150 slots and a couple of tables. Really pitiful but I realized how little they need to make a lot of money. It blows my mind that a province of one million people needs six casinos as we get almost no out of province visitors to them. The campaign against them should make an economic argument instead of a moralistic one but that is just me.

4:00 p.m. :: Headed over to Dennis and Wilda’s apartment. Was given the grand tour. Heard a couple of new details about when Dennis tore the back porch of the Prince Albert church off the building by connecting it to his car. A great story gets better. They have just moved in and have two easy chairs, a table and a lamp. Simplicity at its best and all from IKEA.

5:30 p.m. :: Joined Dennis and Wilda for supper at Bonanza.

7:30 p.m. :: Drove back to Saskatoon but managed to see this story while filling up with gas.

9:30 p.m. :: Arrived safely back here.
