Willow Creek Community Church

Willow Creek has their website designed by an outside firm?! That is so odd. They put on conferences talking about all of this stuff and then you find out that some of their best stuff comes from the outside…

Yahoo! News - Raymond: Cheap PCs will doom Microsoft

Microsoft’s software monopoly is running out of time, says open-source guru Eric Raymond, and he’s got a precise figure for when the company’s position will no longer be sustainable: $350.

Binary by Accident

Bill Simoni was suprised that that all of the currupt politicians aren’t in Washington. Canada may not be known for much (outside of curling and hockey) but we believe in restoring those who have broken the law and then allow them to make the laws! A side ramble… what are the ethical ramifications of allowing someone who has run afowl of a law to vote on actually changing the law? While you are thinking about this, make sure you check out Bill’s great blog!

What Did Cluetrain actually say?

Chris Locke does a great job of explaining what the Cluetrain actually says for those who have never read the book. I have read it and loved the book. He really captures the essence in this excellent post.

InstaPundit.Com

This is another favorite blog of mine. Glenn Reynolds does a great job of covering the web, privacy issues, technology and a very wide net of subjects that interest him. Through his blog, my worldview widens too.

How the Church failed by reinventing Christianity I found this through CT’s weblog - What is occurring is not merely the secularisation of the prevalent moral culture, but also the secularisation of the Church’s understanding of its own mission (Edward Norman, The Daily Telegraph, London)

Reinhard Bonnke Video Documents Modern-Day Lazarus

Nigerian certified dead, but revived days later at evangelist’s meeting. Ekechukwu’s wife was so sure that God would bring her husband back to life after he was fatally injured in an auto accident that she persuaded the local mortuary to allow her to take his body to the church where Bonnke was preaching.

Yahoo! News - Europe tries to get on same page You can almost hear the end times prophets pounding on the pulpits now… a unified Europe. I think the things that divide will be greater than those things that unite. Canada is an example of how hard it is to get everyone on the same page. From the article, “Each member has its own strong cultural traditions; most speak different languages. They squabble among each other and disagree about everything from supporting U.S. plans for a missile-defense system to adopting the euro. (Britain, Sweden and Denmark have refused to adopt it.) Often, the EU more closely resembles a giant, dysfunctional family than a union of countries. Members can’t even agree on what to call the written document expected to come out of the meetings that start Thursday. Constitution? Charter? Legal framework?”

UPDATE This is nothing more than an urban legend. It never did appear in the Ottawa Citizen. That has not stopped several papers from running with the story. Nice Canadian journalism.

This was actually in the Ottawa Citizen, Canada.

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 300 employees and has the following statistics:

30 have been accused of spousal abuse

9 have been arrested for fraud

14 have been accused of writing bad checks

95 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses

4 have done time for assault

55 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit

12 have been arrested on drug related charges

4 have been arrested for shop lifting

16 are currently defendants in lawsuits

62 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year

Can you guess which organization this is?

It is the 301 MPs in the Canadian Parliament

And they write our laws.

Church and state don’t mix

An interesting article in today’s National Post that does a good job of showing how the press views social conservatives, evangelicals, and the right of Canada.

OC Weekly: Cover: Hour of White Power Thanks to Christianity Today for the link. The article is indeed horrifying but I was suprised that there is no mention of contacting the Crystal Cathedral. I would like to hear their response.

Yahoo! Sports: 2002 Winter Olympics - Greece says it cracked 2004 accommodation puzzle This has the potential to make the Atlanta games look extremely well organized. I think the IOC is going to regret not pulling the games out of Athens when they still had time.
