I downgraded my trusty Thinkpad 760 to a 486 Gateway Handbook. Basically I just wanted something light and portable and I couldn't afford a Sony Vaio. I found one on eBay a while ago and I got it for cheap (actually it was quite expensive when you consider the Canadian dollar is at an all time low). I threw on Windows 3.11, a Windows shell that looks exactly like 95/98/Me and Office 4.2 for Windows 3.x. I threw Opera on their for a web client.
I started to use Office 4.2 and all of a sudden I realized that it was almost the exact same as Office 2000. I have bought Office 95, 97, and 2000 for a piece of software I don't use (Outlook). I don't know how Microsoft (where quality is job 1.1) can sleep at night. Oh yeah, on top of their billions of dollars. I don't know how I can sleep at night when I realize that I pay for almost no improvements and consider myself grateful.
