Yahoo! Sports: NFL - Report: Chargers to fire coach Mike Riley I don’t know why to think about this. I really like Mike Riley as a coach from his days with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers but then you read that he wanted to leave to coach college football while under contract. He needs to get his act together or else no one will hire him.

Soularize Worship - The Independent Spirit (CD) This is an AMAZING CD and one that you need to listen to or buy or both. I love the idea of going to a conference and coming home with a really great CD. I don’t know whose idea it was but it was a great one.
College Football 2001: The Bloom Is Off the Rose As a Canadian, I don’t appreciate the importance of league championships to most schools. For schools like Illinois to not to the Rose Bowl is a shame and it somehow puts a damper on an amazing year for them. I am starting to realize that the whole BCS system is really messed up… unless you are cheering for Miami this year as they get the big bowl.
Speaking of Miami, I think they will destroy Nebraska. That being said, I am not a Nebraska fan so I am not objective.
All of this talk about BCS makes me realize that I like the CIAU system soooo much better.

Seattle Bowl, Independence Bowl to Be Held Thursday The SEATTLE BOWL?! Oh, come on! When is someone going to wake up and realize that THERE ARE TOO MANY BOWL GAMES! 25 bowl games is too much. Who cares about the Seattle Bowl Champions? Get rid of 15 of them and the top 20 teams go to a bowl game. 6-5 teams should not go to bowl games.

A question of Web entropy I agree with John Dvorak about this but for every page that is abandoned, there are 10 that are upgraded and made into great pages. jordoncooper.com sucked when it came out too.
I think that is the evolving nature of the web and the search engines will catch up. Sites like Google already have ways to weed out dead pages. GeoCities needs to do something as they are a part of the problem but so do ISP’s. When people leave AOL or whoever, the ISP has to do a better job of cleaning up the mess that is left behind.
His complaints have to do with search engines and 404 errors. I think with the death of search and the birth of the portal (and the decline of search revenues) have to do with more an more 404 sites being left online. Maybe the creators of DMOZ have it right, humans do it better.

Canada opens world junior hockey tournament with easy 15-0 win over France All the mocking aside, it is hard to play goal in a 15-0 game. You get cold and you find it hard to concentrate. Usually a good shot will beat a goaltender under those circumstances. Then again, I doubt they had any really good chances.
I love this time of year. The Jr. World Hockey Championships are HUGE in Canada and we will get up ubsurdly early in the morning to watch Canada play.
I remember my Mom getting us up one time at 5:00 to watch Team Canada play the Russians. What a great rivalry. I still remember the World’s when they were in Saskatoon and Eric Lindros was on Team Canada.
